Stonebwoy has defended the Black Stars following Ghana’s exit from the FIFA World Cup.

He has urged Ghanaians to appreciate the team’s efforts instead of constantly criticizing the players.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session, the award-winning musician expressed disappointment with the way some supporters have reacted to the team’s performance, saying the harsh comments directed at the players deeply affect him.

According to Stonebwoy, many people fail to consider the emotional and professional toll defeats take on the players, who represent the country on the biggest stage.

“How do you think say them they feel? Who goes into a competition to go and lose? We have problems, yes, we know. But me, I am addressing our mentality,” he stated.

He argued that qualifying for the World Cup is already an achievement, stressing that participating in the tournament is far from “doing nothing.”

“To not do anything is to not go to the World Cup at all. As we go, how many teams no go pass group stage? Let’s be honest.”

Stonebwoy questioned why Ghanaians are quick to criticize the national team despite the reality that only one country can ultimately win the World Cup.

He also suggested that many fans are unaware of the challenges the team faces behind the scenes.

“The problem is that we no dey come tell the people what the problems be many at times.”

The musician further noted that while fans celebrate victories, the biggest rewards and records ultimately belong to the players because it’s their career.

Using Asamoah Gyan as an example, Stonebwoy pointed out that although Ghanaians celebrated his World Cup achievements, the records remain attached to Gyan’s name.

“When a player does well, at the end of the day it’s for the player. Supporters will jubilate, but the credit goes to the player,” he maintained.

He added that if supporters are hurt by the team’s performances, the players feel the disappointment even more because their careers are directly affected.

Stonebwoy concluded by urging Ghanaians to change their mindset and show greater appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Black Stars, insisting that this should be common understanding rather than something he has to explain publicly.
