Entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah has called on Ghanaians to stop placing the blame for every national challenge on President John Dramani Mahama, insisting that state institutions and public officials must also be held accountable.
Speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz on July 4, 2026, MC Yaa Yeboah mentioned that the president has appointed officials to oversee various sectors, making it unfair to expect him to shoulder all the responsibility.
“We will be blaming everything on the government. The government has also appointed people at various institutions to do the work. President Mahama, in his own wisdom and knowledge, appointed people at various institutions to handle everything,” she said.
According to her, public officials who receive salaries must be accountable for carrying out their responsibilities effectively.
“All these people take money, so what should the government do for you? You’re making the president suffer because he has designated people. Every person has roles they play. At the end of the month, they will take salary,” she stated.
MC Yaa Yeboah also questioned the preparedness of local assemblies and the Ghana Meteorological Agency, arguing that they should have anticipated the heavy rains and taken preventive measures.

She claimed she had learnt that assemblies had been provided with equipment, including desilting machines, and wondered whether those resources were being put to good use.
“I learnt that Assemblies were given drip machines, which GH₵40 million is included. What work are you doing? How are you helping? They said it’s about to rain. Are we saying that the Assemblies and Ghana Meteorological Services don’t have the statistics on the magnitude of rain that’s coming?” she asked.
She further stressed that sanitation has long been one of Ghana's biggest challenges and urged the relevant institutions to implement measures to minimise the impact of flooding.
“When you know that in your country, one of your biggest problems is sanitation. What are the measures they put in place so that when it rains, it will not cause damage again?” she shared.
MC Yaa Yeboah also criticised those who politicise disasters instead of focusing on solutions.
“As the president is in the helicopter, assessing the road, we sit on radio and TV and shamelessly make politics of it,” she added.
