Richmond Gyamfi tells Nana Romeo his movie was aired illegally less than 16 hours after release
Ghanaian movie director Richmond Gyamfi has threatened legal action against five Ghanaian television stations for allegedly airing his movie without his permission.
In an interview on Okay FM on July 7, 2026, Richmond Gyamfi disclosed that just 16 hours after the movie was released, five media houses had allegedly copied and broadcast the movie on their platforms without authorization.
According to him, Unity TV, NorthEast TV, Great Commission TV, Hennes TV, and Fast TV are the stations accused of pirating the movie. He added that some social media users on TikTok have also claimed that they watched the same movie on Lucky TV.
“Just 16 hours after the movie’s release, five television stations had already copied and aired it without my permission. Unity TV, NorthEast TV, Great Commission TV, Hennes TV, and Fast TV are the stations involved in the piracy. We have gathered all the evidence proving that the movie was pirated, and we have handed everything over to our lawyer,” he said.

The filmmaker explained that it is wrong for individuals or organizations to pirate movies without considering the investment and resources copyright owners put into producing such projects.
He stated that the appropriate step would have been for the television stations to contact him for discussions and reach an agreement before airing the movie, but that process was not followed.
When asked how he became aware that the stations had aired the movie, Richmond Gyamfi explained that viewers sent evidence showing the television stations broadcasting the content.
He noted that among the stations involved, Great Commission TV also broadcasts in Nigeria, and the person who alerted him about the station’s alleged actions sent evidence from Nigeria.
The director further disclosed that he has contacted all the stations involved, but some of them responded harshly instead of listening to his concerns.
“I reached out to all of them, but whenever you contact them, they respond harshly without even listening to what you have to say. I will make sure they understand the importance of copyright,” he added.
