Don’t abort pregnancies after partner abandonment – Women told

Entrepreneur and author Queen Richlove Osei Wieko has urged women facing abandonment during pregnancy not to resort to abortion, saying difficult circumstances should not determine the fate of an unborn child.

Speaking on Gee O'clock with MzGee, Richlove, who recounted being abandoned by two different partners during separate pregnancies, said she understands the emotional turmoil many women experience but believes every child is born with a purpose.

"If something has happened and, unfortunately, you are currently pregnant, and the person doesn't want to be involved, abortion should not be the option," she said.

Richlove revealed that she was once persuaded by friends to terminate her first pregnancy after discovering that the man she had dated for five years had secretly married another woman.

She said she visited a health facility intending to abort the pregnancy but was advised against the procedure after medical examinations revealed complications that made it unsafe.

Looking back, she believes keeping the pregnancy became one of the defining decisions of her life.

"You don't know what that child is coming to do for you. Every child has a reason God created them," she said.

The entrepreneur acknowledged that raising children alone is emotionally, mentally and financially demanding, describing single motherhood as a journey she never chose but one she was forced into by circumstances.

She appealed to women in similar situations to remain strong and hold on to hope despite the uncertainty that often follows abandonment.

Drawing from her own experience, Richlove said the children she once feared raising alone have become her greatest motivation to build a better life.

She also called on society to show greater compassion towards single mothers instead of judging them, stressing that many become single parents through circumstances beyond their control.

The author encouraged women who feel overwhelmed by unexpected pregnancies to remember that today's struggles do not define tomorrow's outcome.

"Be strong for that child," she advised. "Every single mother out there, your scar will one day become your testimony."
