Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Lami Yankey has lashed out at television stations for broadcasting her movies without permission, warning that she is preparing to take legal action against them.
Speaking in a video shared on her social media pages on July 12, 2026, Lami Yankey expressed frustration over what she described as the persistent piracy of her productions, despite previously raising concerns about the issue.
According to her, every actor featured in her films was paid, and significant amounts of money were invested in production, making it unfair for television stations to air her content without obtaining the necessary rights.
"Ghana TV stations, what's wrong with you? I paid every actor in that film. None of them shot for free. This is not the first time I'm coming here to talk about how you people are showing my content for free. If you don't have content for your TV station, shut it down," she said.
She disclosed that she initially addressed the issue politely, but claimed her concerns were ignored.
"The first time I came here to talk about it, I was so calm and nice, but it looks like the TV station is owned by a fool. Why would you open a TV station, you don't have content, someone will suffer to shoot a movie and it's not even up to 24 hours; then you will air it for free. You see nothing wrong with that," she stated.

Lami Yankey also revealed that her latest movie was not shot in Ghana but in Lagos, Nigeria, where production costs were significantly higher.
"I didn't shoot that movie in Ghana. In Ghana, if you're shooting lounge scenes, the owner will demand an advert and you will pay for everything. Spending an hour to shoot in a restaurant in Lagos costs like GH₵2,000, so if I spend 18 hours there, do the calculation yourself," she explained.
The actress further claimed that Nigerian authorities are already monitoring television stations over copyright issues, adding that many viewers had watched her movie on television instead of her YouTube channel, where she expected to recover her investment.
"The Nigerians have targeted most TV stations. Someone asked me if I knew the owner of some TV stations. Most of the people who have seen my film all watched it on TV. They didn't watch it on my YouTube channel, and that's the only way I will make my money back.
"Forget the fact that some of the actors are my friends; I paid each and every one of them. If you want to air someone's project, you can wait for like a month or more, so that by then, the person might have gotten the money they invested. Do you know how much it costs to shoot a movie in Lagos?" she shared.
Lami Yankey also warned that she has gathered evidence against the television stations involved and intends to pursue legal action.
"This time, I'm not letting it go. I have videos of TV stations that have my movies and I will serve them. Get ready to receive a lawsuit from me. Nobody should come and tell me because I'm a Ghanaian, I should let it go," she added.
