Juaben MP donates GH¢20,000 to support actor Kwadwo Kwekyre’s kidney transplant

Kumawood actor Kwadwo Kwekyre has received GH¢20,000 in medical support from the Member of Parliament for Juaben, Francis Owusu-Akyaw, as he continues to rally support for his kidney transplant.

The donation was presented on behalf of the MP by Kumawood actress Matilda Asare, who visited the ailing actor to offer encouragement and show solidarity during this difficult period.

According to Matilda Asare, after visiting the actor and assessing his situation, she realised the urgent need for support, especially considering the challenges patients face when dealing with serious illnesses without adequate assistance.

“When we first came here, he saw the condition he was in. We know that when someone is diagnosed with this sickness and does not have a helper or support system, it becomes very difficult. So we went to seek assistance from the Juaben MP, and he gave us GH¢20,000 to help support his medical bills,” she said.

Kwadwo Kwekyre thanked the Juaben MP for the intervention, describing the support as a major relief at a time when the cost of his treatment had become overwhelming.

Meanwhile, veteran actress Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu has also announced a personal donation of GH¢50,000 towards Kwadwo Kwakye Obuobi’s medical expenses as he battles a severe kidney condition.

Speaking about the actor’s health challenges, Mercy Asiedu said she was moved to support him because of their long-standing working relationship and the impact he has made in the creative industry.

“I’m here to donate GH¢50,000 to support him. We need about GH¢700,000 for his kidney transplant. I trust and believe that we will all come together and support him,” she said.

She further appealed for more support from individuals and organisations, stressing that every contribution would be valuable in helping the actor access the treatment he needs.

“When God touches your heart, we would accept every penny you bring. He needs to stay alive to continue the good work he’s been doing over the years. He’s a member of my production, and we’ve done a lot of work with him. We can’t just watch and not do anything to save his life,” she noted.
