Nana Aba Anamoah is a Ghanaian media personality
Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has stressed that freedom of expression should never be used as a shield for criminal conduct, following the court proceedings involving a TikToker, who is accused of making insulting remarks about the First Lady.
In a post shared on her X page on July 21, 2026, Nana Aba reacted after news emerged that Mahama Aminat, popularly known as “Bawumia Ba,” had been granted a reduced bail of GH¢50,000.
Sharing a news card on her page, she spotlighted the development, which read: “TikToker, Mahama Aminat granted reduced bail of GH¢50,000 for death threats and insulting remarks against Pres Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama in May 2026.”
The post generated mixed reactions from social media users, with some viewing the case through a political lens.
One X user commented: “NDC’s ‘RESET’ it’s a painful one.”

Responding to the comment, Nana Aba argued that the matter should not be politicised, insisting that alleged death threats are criminal offences rather than political issues.
She maintained that freedom of speech does not exempt individuals from the consequences of making threatening or unlawful statements.
“Death threats aren’t politics. They’re criminal. Free speech is never a licence for stupidity. People must be held accountable for their actions. There’s nothing partisan about that. Everything doesn’t have to be reduced to party propaganda,” Nana Aba wrote.
Mahama Aminat, widely known on TikTok as “Bawumia Ba,” was arrested in May 2026 by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
According to the police, the arrest followed the circulation of videos on TikTok in which she allegedly made insulting comments about President John Mahama and issued threats against both the President and First Lady Lordina Mahama.
She is also alleged to have encouraged others to engage in violent acts against them.
