Ghanaian socialite and actress Akuapem Poloo has dismissed claims that the body of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba was not present at his funeral, insisting she personally saw the musician's remains when she attended the final rites in Kumasi.

Speaking in an interview on Aluta FM, Poloo, who had attended the funeral, said she was surprised by the conspiracy theories that emerged on social media after the funeral.

"When I went, everything was fine. I saw the comments on social media. Maybe because they did not see the body. I saw Lumba's body in the coffin when I attended his funeral. I saw that it was my daddy.

"Maybe the person saying it did not get the chance to see the body. Or they did not see the body properly. Maybe they have eyesight issues,” she said.

Poloo added that she had met Daddy Lumba in person years ago when she worked as a video vixen, making it easy for her to recognise him.

"I first saw Lumba physically when I went to perform as a video vixen. So when I went to the funeral, that was his body I saw," she said.

Following Daddy Lumba's funeral in Kumasi December 2025, his then family head, Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu had claimed that Lumba had been buried at his East Legon residence in Accra despite the funeral being held in Kumasi.

This prompted claims that the body in the coffin was not the late musician's, with some alleging a wax figure or body double had been displayed.

The claims prompted a statement by the Ga Traditional Council calling for the body to be exhumed.

The funeral had already attracted intense public attention after a legal dispute between family members briefly halted the burial before a court lifted the injunction, allowing the ceremony to proceed as scheduled.

Kofi Owusu was later removed as family head.
