Fella Makafui says she wants to give her child the best life
Actress and entrepreneur Fella Makafui has disclosed that she personally does not subscribe to the idea of having many children, stressing that one child is okay for her.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session sighted by GhanaWeb on July 21, 2026, Fella explained that her decision is based on the kind of life she wants to provide for her child and the need for proper planning and financial stability.
Using her daughter, Island, whom she shares with rapper Medikal, as an example, the actress said she wants to be in a position where she can comfortably provide opportunities for her child whenever needed.
She explained that if her daughter expresses a desire to travel or experience something new, she wants to have the means to make it possible without financial limitations.

“I don’t see the point of having a lot of kids. That’s no shade to anyone who has more than one, but that’s just my preference. One is okay for me. The kind of life I want for my child and myself, I don’t want to give birth for the child to come and suffer. We need to be very much okay. If Island says, ‘Mummy, I want to travel to this place,’ then I get her ticket so she travels,” she said.
She also clarified that her opinion is not meant to judge or discourage people who choose to have larger families.
Fella Makafui further advised women not to rush into motherhood, stressing that they should first ensure they are emotionally prepared and financially stable before having children.
According to her, proper planning can help mothers avoid frustrations that may affect their relationship with their children or lead to public conflicts.
“You need to plan. There’s no rush in life. Relax, make good choices, and make sure you are very okay yourself as a woman before you have a child, so that you don’t come and drag anybody on social media. So you don’t become a bitter mother,” she noted.
The actress further revealed that her views on parenting were influenced by her own childhood experiences.
She explained that she struggled with feelings towards her father while growing up because of his absence in her life.
However, she praised her former partner and father of her daughter, Medikal, describing him as a supportive and loving father to Island.
“That’s how I see life because I grew up hating my dad. I never understood why he never took care of me. Island is a sweet soul, and her dad is very amazing,” she added.
