Chadwick Boseman’s brothers accuse widow of concealing estate assets in court filing

Nearly six years after the death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, his brothers have accused his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, of concealing estate assets and failing to comply with court-ordered distributions.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Kevin and Derrick Boseman have petitioned a Los Angeles court to remove Ledward as the administrator of the late actor’s estate, alleging that she has maintained complete control over his assets while failing to provide transparency to both the family and the court.

The brothers claim Ledward has not carried out a 2022 court order directing her to distribute the remaining estate, including a $40,000 Long-Term Care Policy that was awarded to Chadwick’s mother, Carolyn Boseman. They also argue that their parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, are entitled to 25% of the estate but have yet to receive what is due them.

The filing further alleges that several estate assets, including royalties, SAG-AFTRA residual payments, image and intellectual property rights, real estate, a previously undisclosed bank account, and personal property, have not been fully disclosed.

Kevin and Derrick also claim Chadwick Boseman’s bank account and IRA remain open and that residual payments dating back to 2020 have not been properly accounted for.

They have argued that Ledward’s continued control over the actor’s image and intellectual property rights has enabled her to profit from his legacy while keeping other beneficiaries in the dark.

As a result, the brothers are asking the court to appoint forensic accountant Jason Rubin to take over the administration of the estate.

Chadwick Boseman died in August 2020 at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. The actor died without leaving a will, just six days after marrying Taylor Simone Ledward.
