Yaw Dabo is a Ghanaian kumawood actor
Kumawood actor Yaw Dabo has shared a funny experience when he nearly found himself in an uncomfortable situation during an interview on Kumasi-based radio station Luv FM.
Speaking on Nhyira FM, the actor recalled how his confidence was challenged when he appeared on Luv FM for a sports discussion segment and attempted to have a conversation with the female host in English.
Yaw Dabo explained that he realised he was struggling to match the presenter’s fluency, choice of words, and command of the language.
He said the journalist’s impressive delivery made him uncomfortable as he tried to keep up with her during the interview.
According to him, he decided not to force the conversation in English and instead respectfully asked that they switch to Twi to allow for a smoother and more effective discussion.

“I nearly disgraced myself at Luv FM. The lady’s English was on another level; it was so fluent and polished. Even me, who had just returned from America, couldn’t match up. So I had to humbly beg her, ‘Please, can we switch to Twi?” he recalled.
The actor noted that he was not embarrassed to make the request because he believes expressing himself clearly is more important than struggling with a language he was not fully comfortable using at the time.
He added that changing the conversation to Twi helped the interview progress naturally, while assuring the presenter that he would return another time better prepared to engage in English.
