‘I don’t sleep, ever’ - Lil Wayne on his strict work ethic

American rapper Lil Wayne has revealed that he does not sleep, saying he has never been the type to lie down and go to bed because he is constantly working in the studio.

Speaking in a recent interview with American record producer Benny Blanco, the award-winning musician said making music has been his life’s work from an early age, leaving little room for a traditional sleep routine.

When asked whether he ever tries to lie down and go to bed, Lil Wayne gave a blunt response

“I don’t sleep. Ever,” he said

Pressed further on whether he ever gets into bed, the rapper replied, “No.”

When the interviewer asked if that meant he was working around the clock, Lil Wayne responded, “Yeah.”

Explaining his relentless work ethic, the rapper said music has been at the center of his life since childhood.

“You have to understand that I signed my first contract at eleven. Started doing this around seven or eight. That’s not one second that hasn’t been the job.”

Lil Wayne likened his passion for music to the excitement of a child in a toy store, suggesting he still approaches his craft with the same enthusiasm he had as a youngster.

“It’s still the kid at the toy store. That’s the last thing that kid wants.”
