'She opened doors for me' - Obaapa Christy mourns Vivian Jill's late sister

Gospel musician Obaapa Christy has paid an emotional tribute to Mabel Intuah, the late sister of actress Vivian Jill Lawrence, describing her as a selfless woman whose support played a huge role in her personal and professional life.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, the award-winning singer said Mabel was far more than a friend or relative.

According to her, Mabel consistently opened doors by introducing her to influential personalities and helping her build valuable connections that contributed to her growth.

Obaapa Christy recounted that she had been with Mabel only a few days before her passing. During that time, she had asked her to assist with several errands, and Mabel willingly agreed to help without hesitation.

She also spoke about the close bond they shared, revealing that she often drove Mabel wherever she needed to go, humorously describing herself as Mabel's personal chauffeur because of how frequently they spent time together.

“She was my helper and supported me in so many ways. For instance, ahead of my upcoming programme, she would personally take me to meet prominent people I wanted to invite. I even spoke to her on Wednesday when she told me she was in the hospital," she said.

Although Mabel admitted she was not feeling well, she did not reveal the exact nature of her illness.

Obaapa Christy explained that neither of them imagined the situation would take such a tragic turn, as they had already made plans to see each other the following day.

The singer said she was left heartbroken after receiving a phone call the next day informing her that Mabel had passed away.

“I asked what was wrong, and she said her condition wasn't looking good, but I assured her everything would be fine. Then, later in the evening, I heard she had passed away. Since then, I have been devastated and have had to cancel most of my appointments,” she said.

She admitted that the loss has taken a heavy emotional toll on her, adding that she is still struggling to come to terms with the death of someone who had been such an important and dependable presence in her life.
