The family of late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has officially commemorated the musician’s one-year anniversary, bringing to rest months of public speculation about his final resting place.

In a video circulating on social media, members of the late singer’s family, including former family elder Abusuapeni Tupac, were seen performing traditional rites at Daddy Lumba’s burial site.

The family confirmed that the celebrated musician was buried on a parcel of land he personally designated before his death. The burial site is located near, but not within, his East Legon residence in Accra.

The ceremony saw family members pour libation in honour of the late highlife icon as part of customary one-year remembrance rites.

Also present at the event was Daddy Lumba’s second wife, Odo Broni, who was officially ushered out of widowhood after observing the traditional one-year mourning period. The customary rite signifies the end of her status as a widow under tradition.

As part of the commemorative activities, the family also announced the appointment of Daddy Lumba’s cousin, Ebenezer Fosu, as the immediate stand-in for the late musician.

According to the family, the appointment is an interim measure as they are yet to select the rightful successor to carry on the legendary musician’s legacy. Ebenezer Fosu will serve in that capacity until the family officially names a permanent successor.

The revelation of Daddy Lumba’s burial location comes after months of public uncertainty, with many Ghanaians questioning where the legendary musician had been laid to rest following his passing.
