'You hugged me like an obsessed woman!' - Stonebwoy fires back at Shatta Wale

The long-running feud between Ghanaian dancehall stars Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale has taken another turn after Stonebwoy responded to claims made by his rival during a recent interview in Nigeria.

Reacting to Shatta Wale’s assertion on The Honest Bunch podcast that “Stonebwoy can’t look me in the face,” the award-winning musician dismissed the remarks, reminding his rival of their widely publicised embrace earlier this year.

“The last time you saw me, you hugged me like an obsessed woman. Aren’t you tired of lying?” Stonebwoy wrote in a post on X on July 27, 2026.

Stonebwoy’s response referenced the pair’s unexpected hug during the Black Stars’ 2026 FIFA World Cup fundraising dinner in March.

The moment came after President John Dramani Mahama appealed to the two artistes to embrace each other on stage, with broadcaster Berla Mundi relaying the President’s request to the audience.

The hug drew loud cheers and sparked speculation that the years-long rivalry had finally come to an end.

However, any hopes of reconciliation quickly faded. Days after the event, Stonebwoy insisted that the public embrace did not signal an end to their differences, stating that one hug could not erase years of personal attacks and disrespect.

The latest exchange follows comments by Shatta Wale in which he claimed Stonebwoy was once his protégé and said the BHIM Nation president could not face him because “my spirit is too big for him.”
