Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has expressed concern over the controversies surrounding the funeral arrangements of the late Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, warning that the ongoing disagreements could tarnish the respected figure’s image and legacy.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Kumchacha described Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka as a highly respected personality in Ghanaian society, stressing that the developments following his death are unfortunate and worrying.

According to him, the public disagreements among members of the family are gradually affecting the reputation of the late inventor and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, who spent years building a respected name through his contributions to society.

Kumchacha compared the situation to the disagreements that followed the death of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, where disputes within the family also attracted public attention.

“Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka is a respected figure in society, so the issues emerging after his passing are something I am not pleased with. It appears we are tarnishing the image and legacy he worked hard to build. His situation and that of Daddy Lumba are not very different; there is only a slight difference between the two,” he noted.

The preacher also called on the Ghana Police Service to provide adequate security during the funeral rites of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, citing concerns that the disagreement over the burial arrangements could escalate into a confrontation.

His comments come after conflicting announcements over the date for the final funeral rites of the late Apostle, with tensions rising between members of his family over whether the previously announced date remains valid.

Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has insisted that the final funeral and burial rites for her father will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, July 30, 2026, despite a declaration by her brother that the date had been cancelled.

Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, the Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana, announced at a press conference that the July 30 funeral date had been declared null and void due to unresolved disagreements over the arrangements.

He indicated that a new date would be announced after the issues had been settled.

However, speaking on Angel FM, Adwoa Safo rejected the cancellation announcement, insisting that the funeral committee had completed preparations after consultations with key stakeholders, including Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
