Most of the competition in the music industry is unhealthy - Juned

Ghanaian musician Jubed has spoken out against what he describes as a toxic culture of unhealthy rivalry within Ghana's music industry.

Speaking in an interview with CitiFM, Jubed acknowledged that competition in itself is not a bad thing but revealed that some established acts deliberately make things difficult for upcoming artistes rather than fostering collaboration.

"Competition is needed. But some are not healthy. People just want to stress you because you're on the same lane as them. They feel like they want to show you that they are your seniors," he said.

The musician was critical of how the power dynamic plays out when potential collaborations arise, suggesting that some senior artistes use such opportunities to assert dominance rather than create mutually beneficial work.

"When it's time to work with them, even though it's beneficial for you guys to work together, they want to give you a hard time for you to feel lower than them," he said.
