Seth Kofi Kissi, spokesperson for former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo, has claimed that the remains of the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, was never at Transitions Funeral Home.

Speaking in an interview on Neat FM on July 31, 2026, Seth Kofi Kissi said he was honoured when Adwoa Safo personally entrusted him with the responsibility of going to retrieve the body of the late spiritual leader from where it had been kept.

According to him, reports which circulated on July 30, 2026, that the Ghana Police Service had stopped the hearse transporting the body of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka were not accurate.

He claimed that the body was never seized, adding that Adwoa Safo had made arrangements for a brand-new vehicle, which had not been used or seen before, to transport her late father’s remains from the mortuary to the funeral grounds at Gomoa Mpota.

“Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s body was never at Transitions. I was honoured when Adwoa Safo personally entrusted me with the responsibility of bringing the body from where it had been kept.

“It was only after I returned that I saw claims circulating on social media that the body had been seized, but nothing of that sort happened. Adwoa Safo ensured that a brand-new vehicle, one that had never been used or seen before, was used to transport the body,” Kissi stated.

The first day of the final funeral rites took place amid an ongoing legal dispute over the arrangements for the burial of the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

On July 29, 2026, the Accra High Court granted a 10-day interim injunction restraining former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo from proceeding with the funeral arrangements pending the determination of a case before the court.

The court’s order was intended to maintain the existing arrangements while the substantive issues in the case are considered. However, activities at the funeral grounds continued, with mourners arriving in large numbers and preparations ongoing despite the legal challenge.

Thousands of mourners gathered at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region to pay their final respects to Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, despite the interim injunction issued by the Accra High Court seeking to halt the funeral proceedings.
