Shawn Faqua set strict dating boundaries before marriage - Wife reveals

Sharon, wife of Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua, has opened up about the early stages of their relationship, revealing that the actor initially set strict boundaries around their dating life.

Speaking during a discussion on the His Right Hand podcast on July 31, 2026, Sharon said Shawn told her at the beginning of their relationship that they would not have sex until marriage.

According to her, he also made it clear that she could not visit his house because they would be alone.

“When I first started dating him, he said we can’t have sex until marriage, and I said no problem. He also said that I can’t go to his house because we will be alone,” she said.

Sharon recalled an incident when she travelled to Lagos and encountered difficulties finding accommodation after her flight arrived late.

She explained that the hotel where she had planned to stay was fully booked, prompting her to ask Shawn if she could spend the night at his house.

However, the actor initially refused her request, which made her suspicious.

“One day, I was supposed to come to Lagos for something and my flight was really late. When I landed, the hotel I was supposed to stay in was fully booked. I told him to allow me to stay in his house to do whatever I came to do, but he said no,” she recounted.

Sharon said she became convinced that Shawn might be hiding something from her and even told her friends that she felt he was not being truthful.

“I felt he was hiding something, so I told my friends that this man was not honest,” she shared.

She explained that Shawn later changed his mind and told her that he had sought the permission of the Holy Spirit before allowing her to stay at his residence.

“Finally, he later asked me to come and that he had asked the Holy Spirit so I can stay,” she recalled.

Despite his explanation, Sharon said she still suspected that another woman had been staying in the house and that Shawn may have asked her to leave before her arrival.

“I just said to myself that he was having a woman in the house and he later asked her to leave,” she noted.

She added that when she eventually spent the night at Shawn’s house, he maintained the boundaries he had established from the beginning of their relationship.

“I slept over that night, he slept in the sitting room and I slept in the bedroom,” she stated.

Reflecting on their relationship, Sharon said Shawn’s approach to loving her was unlike anything she had experienced and, at some point, felt overwhelming.

She further revealed that Shawn had a unique ability to understand and appreciate her preferences, even without her explicitly telling him what she liked.

“I think the way he loved me was too much for me. As a woman, you know how you want to be loved. For example, I love handwritten notes. There are other specific things that I like and I never discussed it with Shawn, but every time that he sent me a gift, he would do that thing that I love,” she added.
