Ghanaian music executive George Britton has expressed disappointment over what he describes as a “disheartening” reaction towards success in Ghana.

According to him, when Ghanaian musicians attain greater heights and make significant strides outside the borders of Ghana, instead of being celebrated and supported, they are often subjected to criticism.

In a post shared on his social media page, the music executive cited rapper Sarkodie’s Rapperholic UK Edition at the Royal Albert Hall on March 6, 2026, as an example.

He noted that Sarkodie sold out almost 6,000 seats at the iconic venue, but instead of Ghanaians celebrating the achievement, the rapper was criticised.

George Britton also pointed to Shatta Fest UK, headlined by dancehall artiste Shatta Wale in partnership with Akwaaba UK, which took place on August 1, 2026.

He noted that the festival was abruptly shut down and cancelled midway through the event following a gas explosion, but rather than focusing on the effort that went into organising the event, the incident became the subject of criticism directed at Shatta Wale.

He further noted that a similar situation is now happening with Stonebwoy following his successful concert at the OVO Arena Wembley in London, saying the artiste is being “torn down” instead of being celebrated for the milestone.

“Is there anything good to come out of Ghana?

O My Ghana People, it’s disheartening to see our reactions towards success. Sarkodie had his concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and instead of celebrating, we criticised it.

“Shatta Wale worked hard to bring us the biggest Festival in the Park, but a gas explosion overshadowed the event, got cancelled, and once again, we chose to criticise Him. Now, Stonebwoy has successfully performed at the OVO Arena, yet we’re back to tearing him down. It’s truly disappointing,” he wrote.
