Davido is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer
Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has backed the idea of women maintaining separate bank accounts from their partners, describing personal finances as an important form of security in relationships.
The singer shared his thoughts during an appearance on The Uncut Podcast, where he was asked whether women should have secret bank accounts away from their spouses.
Davido agreed with the idea, but noted that financial independence should not be exclusive to women, insisting that both men and women should have personal accounts outside their shared finances.

“Yeah, I think it’s good. I think, I actually think they should,” he said.
According to the award-winning musician, life can be unpredictable, and having personal savings allows individuals to protect themselves and remain financially stable regardless of what happens in the future.
“You never know what could happen,” Davido said, adding that couples should be able to “mount their ground” financially.
The singer also revealed that he would not be offended if he discovered that his wife had a separate account. Instead, he joked that he would be willing to support it.
“If I ever found out that my wife had a secret bank account, I’ll not be angry,” he said.
Davido concluded by emphasising that personal financial independence is beneficial for everyone in a relationship, saying, “I think everybody should have their own.”
