Akosua Serwaa, widow of late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has taken legal action against Victor Kofi Owusu, widely known as Abusuapanin Tupac, and Alex Kofi Boadi Ampong over allegations concerning the authenticity of her marriage to the late musician and the validity of her German marriage certificate.
The suit, filed at the Kumasi High Court and sighted by GhanaWeb, seeks, among other reliefs, a declaration that statements attributed to the plaintiff were false and defamatory, an injunction against further publication of the allegations, a public retraction and apology, and general and aggravated damages of GH¢3 million.
According to the statement of claim, Victor Kofi Owusu appeared on UTV's United Showbiz programme on November 29, 2025, during a discussion concerning Akosua Serwaa, her marriage to Daddy Lumba and the German marriage certificate.
The plaintiff claims that during the programme, Kofi Owusu made statements suggesting that the marriage certificate was fake.
She considers the statements defamatory because, according to her, they falsely represented her marital status and the authenticity of an official German civil-status document.
The plaintiff further denies the allegation that the German marriage certificate was manufactured, forged or fabricated in Ashanti New Town or anywhere else in Kumasi.
Further publications and alleged reputational damage
The lawsuit also identifies Alex Kofi Boadi Ampong, popularly known as Sir Alex, as the second defendant.
According to the statement of claim, Alex Kofi Boadi Ampong publicly presented himself as the Public Relations Officer for Victor Kofi Owusu and made communications in that capacity.

The plaintiff alleges that the defendants did not stop at the November 2025 television appearance. She claims that further publications concerning substantially the same allegations were made on June 8, 2026, and July 5, 2026.
She characterises the publications as a continuing attack on key aspects of her identity and reputation: the authenticity of her German marriage certificate, the existence of her lawful marriage to Daddy Lumba, her honesty and integrity, her status as the musician's lawful widow, and the legitimacy of the documents supporting her claims.
The plaintiff argues that the alleged statements were particularly damaging because they were disseminated through television and social media.
The November 2025 United Showbiz appearance, she says, had the potential to reach a national audience, while the alleged TikTok publications could be viewed, recorded, shared, reposted and circulated beyond Ghana.
She further claims that the allegations have encouraged and fuelled abuse directed at her on TikTok and other social media platforms, where the claims about her marriage documents have allegedly been repeated as facts.
Impact on her professional and personal reputation
Akosua Serwaa also links the alleged publications to her professional reputation as a nurse working in Germany.
She argues that allegations that she forged, fabricated or relied on a fake official German marriage certificate strike directly at qualities such as honesty, integrity, responsibility and trustworthiness, which she says are important to her profession.
Beyond her professional standing, she claims the allegations have damaged her dignity and social and legal status by casting doubt on whether she was genuinely married to Daddy Lumba and, consequently, whether she is his lawful widow.
The plaintiff says the alleged publications have therefore affected both her personal reputation and the legitimacy of her position in relation to the late musician's estate and family affairs.
Reliefs sought
Akosua Serwaa is asking the Kumasi High Court to declare that the statements complained of were false and defamatory.
She is also seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, their agents, representatives, or persons acting on their instructions from publishing, republishing, repeating, or circulating allegations that her German marriage certificate is fake, forged, or fabricated.
The proposed injunction would also prevent the defendants from repeating allegations that the certificate was manufactured or fabricated in Ashanti New Town, Kumasi, or that Akosua Serwaa was never lawfully married to Daddy Lumba.
She is further seeking an order compelling the defendants to retract the alleged defamatory statements and issue an unqualified public apology.
For Victor Kofi Owusu, the plaintiff wants the retraction and apology to be carried through UTV and other television, online and social-media platforms on which the original allegations were subsequently carried or republished, subject to the court's directions.
In respect of Alex Kofi Boadi Ampong, she wants the apology and retraction published through TikTok and any other social-media platform he allegedly used to publish or repeat the allegations, in terms approved by the court.
Finally, Akosua Serwaa is seeking general and aggravated damages for defamation amounting to GH¢3 million, or another amount the court considers appropriate.
