'Once they cook for me, the relationship is over' - Jim Iyke narrates campus lifestyle

Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has admitted that his inability to cook during his university days pushed him into pursuing multiple relationships on campus, revealing that he often dated women primarily because they could prepare meals for him.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actor described cooking as “the one skill” that troubled him throughout his life, confessing that he relied heavily on girlfriends who knew their way around the kitchen.

“It is the one skill that tortured me all my life,” Jim Iyke said when the interviewer pointed out that he does not know how to cook.

The actor recalled that while he was in university, he intentionally sought out ladies who were known to be good cooks, admitting that once they had cooked for him, he often ended the relationship.

“Since I dey go toast girls for uni that time, make them come cook. Once I dey cook finish… my brother, I don’t dump you be that,” he stated in Pidgin and English.

Explaining further, Jim Iyke revealed that he would sometimes buy the ingredients himself, while on other occasions, the women would bring the ingredients before preparing the meals.

“I come in, buy ingredients. Some go even buy ingredients come. When you cook finish, eh, the relationship is over now. There’s nothing more,” he admitted.

According to the actor, his reputation eventually spread across campus, with other students warning women about his intentions whenever he showed interest.

“Last last, come figure me out that time for school. Once I dey toast some kind girl where they no say she no fine enough or cool enough or get swag, they say, ‘Ah, na one thing he want.’ Leave that guy. We don’t go down that road,” he added.

Reflecting on his younger years, Jim Iyke said he has since realised that some of his approaches to relationships were misguided, stressing that while there is nothing wrong with pursuing women, men should avoid taking things to the extreme.

“It’s okay to pursue girls, it’s okay to be ruthless, but we need to tone it down. It’s not your way or the highway. There’s a middle ground. There’s a gray area I wish I stepped in,” he said.
