Fancy Gadam reveals how Ibrahim Mahama paid for his National Theatre concert
Ghanaian musician Fancy Gadam has recounted how businessman Ibrahim Mahama supported his career by paying for the venue and sound for one of his concerts in Accra.
According to the Tamale-based artiste, his relationship with Ibrahim Mahama began after an unexpected phone call from the businessman, who had been impressed by his work.
Speaking in an interview on 3Music on August 26, 2026, Fancy Gadam recalled an encounter in which he saw Ibrahim Mahama and President John Mahama in a vehicle surrounded by a large crowd.
“We were in a car when I saw Ibrahim Mahama and President Mahama, and because the crowd there was too much, they had to park,” he said.
He explained that when he returned home, his brother informed him that Ibrahim Mahama was on the phone and wanted to speak with him.
“When I went home, my brother came to me and said Ibrahim Mahama was on the line and he wanted to talk to me. I thought he was joking with me, so I asked him to leave my sight. To my surprise, it was really him,” Fancy Gadam recounted.
He said Ibrahim Mahama praised his work during their first conversation, which eventually helped establish a close relationship between them.
“When I answered, he said ‘Mr President,’ and I also said Boss. He then told me that I was doing well. Because of that, I built a good relationship with him,” he stated.

Fancy Gadam disclosed that the businessman later offered to support him when he travelled to Accra to organise a concert at the National Theatre.
According to him, Ibrahim Mahama had previously encouraged him to visit whenever he was in Accra.
“When I booked the venue, I came to Accra. He initially told me that anytime I come to Accra, I should look for him, so I went to see him,” he explained.
Fancy Gadam mentioned that Ibrahim Mahama asked about the purpose of his visit, and he informed him about the planned concert.
“He asked me what I was doing in Accra, and I told him we were there to do a concert at the National Theatre. He asked how much the venue was; he wanted to help,” he shared.
The musician revealed that Ibrahim Mahama subsequently paid for both the National Theatre venue and the sound for the concert.
“He paid for the venue and sound as well. Then we had a sold-out concert,” he added.
