'I took care of her from Level 100 to 400 at UG’ – Shatta Wale on how he met second wife

Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has explained how he met his second wife, Christy, with whom he has been living in the same home alongside his first wife and baby mama, Maali.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV on August 28, 2026, the celebrated dancehall musician said he met Christy at the University of Ghana, Legon, when she was in Level 100.

According to him, a mutual friend introduced Christy to him during her first year at the university, after which he took care of her throughout her education until she completed her studies.

“Christy, I watched her from Level 100 to Level 400 in school because when I met her she was in level 100 in Legon,” he said.

When asked whether it could be said that he took advantage of Christy because he took care of her during her school days, which may have influenced his decision to make her his second wife, Shatta Wale dismissed the suggestion, saying he did not take advantage of her.

“I was taking good care of her, making sure she had good grades. After she finished, she did her national service at Shaxi and she is now working in one of my real estate jobs,” he stated.

Shatta Wale first spoke about his decision to be in a relationship with two women during an interview on the Nigeria-based Honest Bunch Podcast, where he said he prefers to describe his lifestyle using his own term rather than the conventional label of polygamy.

“When they say polygamy, I don’t even like the word. I want to use my own word, ‘Shattanomy,’ because I feel it’s my decision, something that I felt would make me happy, and it’s making me happy,” he stated.

The award-winning artiste also disclosed that he recently informed his father about his relationship with the two women and was encouraged by his reaction.

“I recently called my dad and boldly told him I’m with two ladies. I asked if he understood what I was saying. My dad is someone who motivates me, and for him to accept what I was saying, I felt I had made the right decision,” he said.
