KiDi, Fameye share conflicting claims over songwriting credits on new album

Ghanaian musicians KiDi and Fameye have sparked debate on social media following conflicting remarks about the songwriting credits for KiDi’s song Crazy World.

The song, which opens KiDi’s newly released album 'Where Do We Go From Here', has drawn attention after the singer revealed that Fameye co-wrote it.

Speaking with Kwadwo Sheldon during the album's release, KiDi said he contacted Fameye to help with the creative direction of the album.

“Fameye co-wrote this song. I called Fameye, and I explained the vision of the album to him. He sent me four songs, actually, but I liked this one. I felt like it was the best opener for the album,” KiDi said.

However, in a separate interview with Kwadwo Sheldon days later, Fameye denied writing the song, insisting he had no involvement beyond the beat, which was produced by his producer, LiquidBeatz.

“I don’t know why KiDi talk that. He do ein job; I don’t know why he come talk say ebi me. My producer Liquid did the beat, but I personally didn’t do anything. You think Fameye would say ‘tinga-linga-linga-ling’? Big shout-outs to my brother, but I didn’t write it,” Fameye stated.

The contrasting statements have since gone viral, with netizens divided over what may have transpired behind the scenes.

While some social media users believe Fameye is simply being modest about his contribution and allowing KiDi to enjoy the spotlight surrounding the album, others argue that KiDi may have mistakenly attributed the song to Fameye because of its writing style.

Another group has suggested that Fameye deliberately chose not to dwell on the issue during the interview, preferring to focus on promoting his own music rather than discussing KiDi’s project.

Neither KiDi nor Fameye has publicly addressed the conflicting claims since the interviews circulated online.
