Veteran Ghanaian musician Slim Buster has disclosed that he has not received any form of royalties for his music for over a decade.

In an interview on Hitz FM, shared on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb on September 9, 2026, Slim Buster noted that since moving to the United Kingdom, the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has not paid him royalties for the past 12 years.

“I haven't received royalties for 12 years now. Trust me,” he said.

Detailing what he believes is the real problem with the Ghanaian music industry, and why artistes are often bitter about royalties, Slim Buster claimed that GHAMRO, while updating its system, decided to clear all its old files.

According to Slim Buster, instead of the music rights organisation updating its system with new data, it cleared all the old files with the intention of starting a whole new registration process, which he believes is the reason why most artistes are not being paid for their works.

“You know, there is something called an update. So the update will not wipe the old system; it will upgrade it. But the problem I was told is that they wiped out the whole system and have updated it. Are they fools?

“...So I was told you have to come back and register. I didn't want to argue because nothing beneficial would come out of it,” he added.
