Diaspora Affairs Office hosts town hall to strengthen ties with Ghanaians abroad

The Office of Diaspora Affairs, Ghana, has held its Ghana Diaspora Town Hall Meeting at Osu Castle.

The event, themed “Listening Today, Building Tomorrow: Strengthening Ghana’s Partnership with the Diaspora,” was held on September 18, 2026.

The much-anticipated town hall meeting brought together members of the Ghanaian diaspora, government officials and other stakeholders to discuss issues affecting Ghanaians living outside the country and ways to strengthen their relationship with Ghana.

Among those present were the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Kofi Okyere-Darko; Presidential Staffer for the Black Star Experience, Rex Owusu Marfo; Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, Mavis Kukua Bissue; and other stakeholders.

The event also featured a panel discussion focused on several key areas, including citizenship, immigration, residency, national identification, tourism, culture and heritage, business registration and investment, among others.

The discussions provided an opportunity for members of the diaspora to raise concerns, share their experiences and engage with relevant stakeholders on issues that affect their interactions with Ghana.

The town hall forms part of efforts by the Office of Diaspora Affairs to deepen engagement with Ghanaians in the diaspora and explore ways to build a stronger partnership for national development.
