It's totally wrong to mock a person over his disability - TiC TAC backs Ras Kuuku amid Sarkodie-Stonebwoy row

Ghanaian musician TiC TAC has backed fellow musician Ras Kuuku’s criticism of Sarkodie over a controversial social media post involving a person with a physical disability.

Speaking on TV3, Ras Kuuku had called on the Ghanaian music industry to condemn Sarkodie after the rapper shared a video showing a person with a physical disability walking with crutches shortly after Stonebwoy’s OVO Arena Wembley concert.

Ras Kuuku described the post as inappropriate, particularly because of its timing, and said people close to Sarkodie should have called him to order.

“People should have called him to order. My brother, we are all Ghanaians. We are one people. He shouldn’t have done that,” Ras Kuuku said.

TiC TAC subsequently responded to a post sharing Ras Kuuku’s comments, writing: “Well spoken bro!”

His response, however, attracted a warning from an X user, who urged him to stay out of the controversy and warned that getting involved could affect his career.

TiC TAC later responded to the advice, explaining why he believed he could not remain silent on the issue.

“My brother, I am a Ghanaian and we have proper moral values as a nation. Growing up, I was taught not to mock people with disabilities no matter the situation. So, what happened to that?” he wrote.

He questioned whether personal disagreements and insults should make people abandon basic values of respect and decency.

“Because of insults, we should not speak up for what is right and disregard who we are as a people and our moral values, right? Sorry, I won't do that for anything,” he added.

TiC TAC also expressed concern about what he described as the growing culture of insults and unverified claims on social media.

“Look around you today, the least opportunity people get on social media, they try to insult someone and even lie on them. I guess that is the new good morals,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians to be careful about the direction social media conversations are taking, warning that normalising such behaviour could have wider consequences for society.

“We should be careful with the way things are going or else we are doomed,” he added.

How the controversy started

The latest disagreement is part of an ongoing public exchange between Sarkodie and Stonebwoy that began earlier this month.

Sarkodie initially addressed his SarkNation fanbase, urging supporters to protect his brand without attacking other artistes or engaging in toxic fan wars.

Stonebwoy subsequently responded, questioning the principle behind the rapper’s message and referring to the video which Sarkodie had shared following Stonebwoy’s OVO Arena Wembley performance.

Stonebwoy appeared to interpret the timing of the post as a possible reference to his physical disability, which stems from a childhood accident.

Sarkodie has denied deliberately targeting Stonebwoy with his social media posts, saying there was no need to attach meanings to statements he did not intend.
