Heaven's Gate Ministries founder Prophet Kumchacha has advised young people living with family to stay with them and save money rather than move out and rent their own accommodation, provided they are treated well.

According to the preacher, there is little reason for someone to incur the cost of rent, electricity and water bills when they have a comfortable place to stay with a relative.

Speaking in an interview on UTV on September 27, 2026, Prophet Kumchacha said people usually decide to leave their family homes when they are subjected to constant mistreatment or disrespect.

“When no one is making you unhappy, you get somewhere to lay your head, you don’t pay for rent, light bill or water bill; why would you want to waste money to rent somewhere?

“When you see someone who stays with a family member and they want to move out, maybe they don’t have peace of mind. The person might be maltreated and how the person is being spoken to anyhow, as if he’s not human,” he said.

He explained that not everyone is comfortable being disrespected, particularly in the presence of other people, and such treatment can push them to seek accommodation elsewhere.

“It’s not everyone who appreciates being spoken to anyhow, especially in the midst of people. That’s when they would decide to move out and get peace elsewhere,” he stated.

Prophet Kumchacha therefore encouraged those who enjoy peace and good treatment in their family homes to consider saving the money they would otherwise spend on rent.

“If you don’t go through all of this, why would you want to move out and separate yourself? The money you would use to rent a room somewhere, you can save it and that money will help you in the future,” he shared.

However, he acknowledged that leaving home may become necessary when the living situation becomes unbearable.

“If I’m staying with you and you always maltreat me and make me unhappy, I can even take a loan and get a place to rent,” he added.
