MC Okokobioko is a Ghanaian-Nigerian stand-up comedian
Nigerian-based Ghanaian comedian MC Okokobioko has shared his thoughts on what he believes can help push the Ghanaian comedy industry forward.
In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie during his sold-out stand-up comedy special, MC Okokobioko noted that the Ghanaian comedy industry can reach the level of its Nigerian counterpart if more people invest in it.
According to him, the reason the Nigerian entertainment industry is thriving is that there are lots of investors supporting the sector.
He explained that industry players in Nigeria do not care whether the money being pumped into the entertainment sector is clean or dirty, as long as lives are being impacted.

“The thing is money. Nigerians have people who have money that want to invest in entertainment. Even music in Nigeria is funded by people who have money.
“Whether it’s clean money or dirty money. In fact, entertainment money is not clean... So before you get clean money, it was once dirty money. I’m not promoting dirty money; I’m just saying, money, clean or dirty. Invest in the right thing,” he said.
MC Okokobioko, who shut down the National Theatre during his “Comfortably Struggling” comedy special, also noted that once lives are impacted through the entertainment industry, it would go a long way to benefit everyone.

He further pleaded with investors not to spend all their money on luxury vehicles but also to support creatives in Ghana.
“If you invest in someone today and in the next 10, 20 years, you see how big the person is, you’ve impacted their life. So please, buy the luxury cars, but not so much,” he added.
