Lali X Lola announce plans to join MUSIGA despite concerns
Ghanaian music duo Lali X Lola have announced plans to register with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), saying they want to contribute to the development of the country's creative industry.
Speaking in an interview on Showbiz 360 on September 28, 2026, Lali X Lola said they believe their role in the music industry goes beyond releasing songs and performing.
The sisters stated that they were initially hesitant about joining the union because of the negative reports and concerns they had heard about MUSIGA from the media and some veteran musicians.
However, they have decided to take a different approach by joining the union themselves and finding out what it can offer artistes.
“We are more than artistes and beyond that, we care about the industry. We want to push the development of the creative sector. We are pushing to register for MUSIGA,” they said.
They also acknowledged the concerns surrounding MUSIGA but said they believe young artistes should be willing to participate if they want to contribute to changing the industry.

They also encouraged other young musicians to join them instead of leaving the responsibility of improving the union to a few individuals.
“We were hesitant at first because most of the things we hear about MUSIGA from the media and even from our older legends are in a negative light. For us, we are like, let’s try and see,” they explained.
Lali X Lola stressed that their decision does not mean they are dismissing the concerns raised about MUSIGA.
They noted that they share some of those concerns themselves but believe joining the union could give them an opportunity to better understand its operations and contribute their ideas.
“We are not telling Ghanaians to put their worries aside; we also have the same concerns. We are calling for artistes to join us to register. We don’t want to do it alone, so if you have the Gen-Z vibe or youthful energy to inject into it, let’s try it,” they added.
