Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has criticised an online user for mocking former Black Stars player Jonathan Mensah over his decision to pursue a career in photography.

In recent days, Jonathan Mensah has faced criticism online after videos and photos of him working as a professional photographer at a stadium abroad circulated on social media.

Reacting to one of such comments, Nana Aba Anamoah, in a post shared on X on September 29, 2026, responded to an online user who claimed that the former footballer had chosen the wrong profession.

According to the netizen, Jonathan Mensah had downgraded by choosing photography over football.

“No one is saying photography is a bad job. Looking at the two jobs in question, being a professional footballer and switching to a photographer is a big downgrade,” he said.

Responding to the comment, Nana Aba Anamoah described the comparison as silly and needless.

According to Nana Aba, there is nothing wrong with Jonathan Mensah pursuing a career in photography, as long as he earns an income and finds fulfilment in it.

Nana Aba further noted that the netizen’s assertion that Jonathan Mensah had downgraded was misplaced, adding that the real downgrade was the netizen’s “narrow” view of success.

“Herh, @1harrismadeit, what is wrong with you? That’s the single most needless and admirably silly comparison I’ve read. Becoming a photographer after playing professional football isn’t the equivalent of a president becoming a party agent. One is a career change.

“The other is moving from the highest public office in the country to a subordinate role within a political party. And why should we measure someone’s progress by prestige? If he’s fulfilled, earning a living and doing something he genuinely enjoys, where exactly is the downgrade?” she said.
