Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has called on the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to take urgent steps to develop and promote the Tabre Waterfalls in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency of the Ashanti Region to attract both local and international tourists.

According to him, the waterfalls have enormous tourism potential and, if properly developed and promoted, could become a major tourist attraction, generating revenue and creating employment opportunities for residents.

He noted that developing the tourist site would particularly benefit young people in the community, including tricycle riders, who could earn income by transporting tourists to and from the attraction.

Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah made the appeal during a visit to the waterfalls on October 10, 2026, as part of activities marking his birthday celebration.

He urged the Ghana Tourism Authority and other relevant stakeholders to prioritise the development of the site and put measures in place to attract visitors from across the world.

"Let this mark the beginning of efforts by the Ghana Tourism Authority to promote this place so that people from all over the world can come here," he stated.

Beyond the waterfalls, Tabre boasts two other unique tourist attractions; Umbrella Rock a remarkable tree with a palm tree growing inside its trunk.
