Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has insisted that he has no regrets over posting a video of a one-legged man on social media shortly after Stonebwoy’s Wembley Arena concert, maintaining that he never intended to mock him.

Speaking in an interview with Serwaa Amihere, Sarkodie addressed the controversy that erupted after the post, explaining that people attached their own narrative to a video that had nothing to do with Stonebwoy.

When asked whether he understood why many believed the post was aimed at Stonebwoy, Sarkodie avoided directly engaging with the speculation.

“If you want to look at it that way… I post several videos every day. So why not the other ones I also posted? I think if you want to go on that route, we will never win,” he said.

The rapper firmly denied ever intending to ridicule Stonebwoy because of his disability, stressing that such behaviour is against his principles.

“The last thing I’ll think about is to even mock another human being. In my whole career, there’s a track record. You can go and check if Sarkodie has ever gone down that route. I’ve never done that. There are certain things below the belt that you will never find Sarkodie trying to do,” he stated.

Asked whether, in hindsight, he would still have posted the video given the backlash it generated, Sarkodie replied, “Oh yeah. I am not thinking about anyone.”

When Serwaa followed up by asking whether he had any regrets after people, including Stonebwoy’s supporters, took offence, the rapper maintained that he had none because he did not post the video to hurt anyone.

“Why should I have regrets? If you choose to be offended and I did not try to offend you, and you think just because of that I have to feel sad, no, that’s not right for any human being. I don’t think it’s fair for you to push what you feel towards somebody else when the person has nothing to do with it,” Sarkodie said.

@iamserwaaamihere I will in no way mock a disabled person and I had no intention of doing so towards Stonebwoy but I’d still post that funny video again. - Sarkodie #SerwaaAmihere #Sarkodie #tiktokghana🇬🇭 ♬ original sound - Serwaa Amihere ESQ
