Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin has been slapped with a lawsuit from Van Vicker
Ghanaian media personality and law enthusiast Afia Pokua Vimlady has advised actor Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin to retain more than one lawyer in the recent defamation suit filed by actor Van Vicker, warning that the case goes beyond the widely discussed GH¢10 million figure.
Speaking in a video shared on her TikTok page, Afia clarified that contrary to claims circulating on social media, Van Vicker is not seeking only GH¢10 million in damages.
“People are saying Van Vicker is looking for GH¢10 million; it’s not GH¢10 million. Van Vicker says he wants exemplary damages and just that one is the GH¢10 million. There are other things as well,” she said.
According to Afia, Van Vicker’s statement of claim deliberately highlights his journey in the entertainment industry, from starting as a presenter on Metro TV in 1999 to becoming a successful actor across Ghana, Nigeria and beyond, to demonstrate the reputation he has built over the years.

She explained that the actor is arguing that LilWin’s alleged remarks portrayed him as someone who is untrustworthy, greedy, and unwilling to honour professional commitments unless there is something to gain.
“The lawyer wants to put a point that if you’re able to tell him that he’s not trustworthy, he takes movie roles because he’s greedy and if he can’t get anything out of it then he won’t do the job, and he doesn’t stand by his word. He’s trying to say that what LilWin said has tarnished his image, his spirit and the position he holds in the movie industry,” she stated.
Vimlady stressed that Van Vicker’s reputation is central to his career, adding that the actor is also seeking general damages and legal costs in addition to the GH¢10 million exemplary damages.
“The most important thing is that Van Vicker says you have damaged his name and, with the movie work he does, it’s his name; it’s a brand, and that is where he eats from. It is not just the GH¢10 million; he’s taking the GH¢10 million plus general damages plus costs. You’re going to pay for his lawyers too,” she said.
Using the lawsuit as an example, Afia advised LilWin to permanently retain legal counsel to guide his public statements and professional conduct, arguing that repeated court cases could negatively affect his reputation within the film industry.
“At this rate LilWin has to have more than one lawyer on retainer… Pay them at the end of every month so they can advise you on your every move. The industry is too small to always have issues with someone,” she remarked.
She also referenced LilWin’s previous legal dispute with actress Martha Ankomah, suggesting the matter could have been resolved through dialogue rather than escalating publicly.
Afia further cited comments previously made by actor Bill Asamoah about professionalism on movie sets, arguing that such concerns should be addressed instead of making allegations against colleagues.
Vimlady concluded by noting that Van Vicker’s legal background and decades of experience in the entertainment industry suggest he is well aware of the implications of the case.
“Van Vicker is also in law school, so he knows what he’s doing. It’s not like before that you’d say anything, and he’d let it go… From 1999, I used to watch Van Vicker on TV as a child, so he didn’t just get up and become an actor,” she added.
