Gospel musician Yaw Siki has stated that he does not mind radio stations and music lovers playing his old secular songs, although he has moved on from that aspect of life.

Yaw Siki, who became popular with his hit song “Wo Pe Dodo” before turning to Christianity, explained that he no longer associates himself with the songs he released before becoming a gospel musician.

However, he said he cannot control what people choose to listen to.

“I can’t stop them, but then I don’t have anything to do with it anymore. It’s in your past, it’s there, then gone. Yes, all things are passed away,” he said.

The musician noted that his attention is now on using music to spread the gospel and share his Christian beliefs with the public.

He said his current work is guided by a different message and purpose from the one behind his earlier music.

‘I was a serious porn addict in JHS’ – Yaw Siki recounts

“Whether they play it or not, I care less, but I’m not for it anymore. I’m championing a new agenda now, a new message, a new cause, a new purpose, and that is what I’m focused on,” he said.

Although he has left his secular music career behind, Yaw Siki revealed that he sometimes performs parts of his old songs when meeting audiences.

He explained that this helps people who remember his music understand the changes he has made in his life.

According to him, some people may not recognise him by his name or face but are familiar with the songs that brought him fame.

In such cases, he sometimes sings a familiar part of a song to help them connect his past career to his present life as a Christian.

“Sometimes I draw some of the people don’t know the image and the name, but they know the song, and so I intentionally even sometimes sing it,” he explained.
