Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame has described marriage as “scary” and “dangerous,” but insists that choosing to marry his wife remains the best decision he has ever made.
Speaking in an interview with Pulse, the award-winning musician admitted that while many people fear marriage, he believes those fears are valid because marriage forces couples to confront uncomfortable truths about themselves.
“I married at 34, and I would also be afraid of marriage. It’s a very terrible thing. It’s dangerous. It’s like a gift and a curse, you know. So when people are afraid, it’s all right for them to be afraid,” he said.

According to Okyeame Kwame, marriage acts as a mirror that constantly reflects a person’s true character, as spouses become deeply connected in every aspect of life.
“Marriage is that one mirror that you put in front of your face every day that tells you the truth about who you are that everybody else is afraid to tell you,” he explained.
He added that if people set aside pride and ego and honestly accept what that “mirror” reveals, marriage can help them grow into better versions of themselves.
Reflecting on his own experience, the rapper credited his wife with influencing many of the decisions he has made in business and parenting, describing their union as life-changing.
“I think that I made an amazing decision marrying my wife. If I go to heaven today and she doesn’t make it, I will leave the place. Wherever Annica is, it cannot be heaven. If I die now, I wake up, we are doing it again. So for us, it’s not till death do us part because we are together till all the universe,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame has described marriage as both a gift and a curse, admitting that while it can be fulfilling, it also comes with its own challenges. “Marriage is a terrible thing; it’s dangerous,” he said.
The musician made the remarks during an interview with Gideon Nicholas Day on Pulse One on One, where he discussed how marriage is increasingly being portrayed negatively in public conversations and shared his perspective on the institution.#PulseOneOnOne
