Ghanaian comic actor Dr Likee has broken his silence on media personality Serwaa Amihere’s comments about the numerous chains he is often seen wearing, saying he understands that she meant no harm.

Reacting to the issue, the actor described Serwaa as a very good friend and said she was only trying to make a point.

“Serwaa is my very good friend. She didn’t say that in a malicious way. She was trying to make a point and was misunderstood,” he said.

Dr Likee also made a revelation about the chains, which many people have assumed are fake. He said they are made of real gold but that he pretends they are copper for security reasons.

“The chains are actually gold, but I pretend they are copper for safety reasons. I don’t want any unscrupulous persons to try and rob me and even remove my head to obtain them,” he said.

He added that they share a good friendship and that there is no misunderstanding between them over the remarks.

The comments follow a session on October 25, 2026, during which Serwaa Amihere reportedly advised young women against buying fake designer goods if they could not afford the originals.

She cited the numerous chains worn by the actor, popularly known as Akabenezer, in his comedy skits as an example of fake jewellery.
