Veteran Ghanaian actor, Van Vicker
Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has urged fans to stop assuming that on-screen romance reflects real-life relationships, stressing that actors are simply doing their jobs.
In a video shared on his TikTok page, the celebrated actor said viewers often create relationship theories after watching actors share intimate scenes, even though such moments are part of acting.
“Please, can we actors do our job in peace? Just because I kissed your favourite actress in the movie, it does not mean I’m interested in marrying her or going beyond that. It’s called acting. Separate the two,” he said.
Van Vicker pleaded with fans to distinguish between fiction and reality instead of reading too much into movie scenes.
“Please, some of you see actors kissing in a movie and you quickly start developing relationship theories. Please, please, please,” he added.
The actor also revealed that what audiences see on screen is not always what actually happens during filming, explaining that some romantic scenes are created through filmmaking techniques.
“Sometimes it’s just camera angles. The only thing we actors are actually in love with is the director shouting CUT!” he joked.
