Hamamat Montia dedicates honorary award to 15-year-old Ghanaian boy killed in Bronx
Ghana’s Shea Butter Ambassador, Hamamat Montia, has dedicated her honorary award at the 2026 Sacred Crown Awards to 15-year-old Ghanaian boy Javits Frimpong, who was fatally shot while on his way to school in the Bronx, United States.
Speaking after receiving the award on November 1, 2026, Hamamat expressed gratitude to the organisers before explaining why she had chosen to dedicate the recognition to the late teenager.
“Since this is a secret spiritual award, I want to dedicate this award to Javits Primpong. His body may not be here, but he's a Ghanaian and his spirit is already making a lot of change. Javits Frimpong, this is for you,” she said.
I never imagined I would become a shea butter ambassador – Hamamat
Her emotional dedication has drawn attention to the tragic death of the young Ghanaian, whose life was cut short while pursuing his education.
Hamamat's gesture also serves as a tribute to Javits, ensuring that his name and memory remain part of conversations beyond the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.
The dedication has also sparked conversations about the need to remember young lives lost to violence, particularly children whose futures are cut short under heartbreaking circumstances.
By using her moment of recognition to honour Javits, Hamamat has turned what would have been a personal celebration into a message of remembrance and solidarity with his family and loved ones.
