After Jay-Z was announced as the headline performer for the 2027 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show, media speculation has focused on which fellow artists the renowned rapper might choose to join him on stage.
Kelly Rowland, who is a close friend of Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé, recently addressed speculation about Destiny’s Child reuniting at Jay-Z’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Formed in Houston, the first members of Destiny’s Child included Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson. Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin later became members of the female group after Luckett and Roberson left. Franklin also left along the line, resulting in Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle becoming the core and only members of the group.
Rowland, 45, teased whether there was a possibility of Destiny’s Child joining Jay-Z on stage during an interview with PEOPLE at the Airbnb.org Gala in Hollywood on October 28.
“That’s none of my business,” Rowland stated. “That’s his performance. That’s none of my business.”
Though the group disbanded in 2006, the friendship between Rowland, Beyoncé, and Williams remains close, and the trio has graced the stage together at several events. Rowland and Williams joined Beyoncé on stage during her Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show performance in 2013. They also reunited to perform Williams’ Say Yes song at the Stellar Gospel Music Awards in 2015. In 2018, Rowland and Williams made a stage appearance when Beyoncé headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The trio additionally reunited during Beyoncé’s final performance for her Cowboy Carter tour in 2025.
The trio recently reunited during Jay-Z’s 30th anniversary concert at SoFi Stadium on October 23, PEOPLE reported.
“We were there for our big brother, Bey’s there for her man,” Rowland told the news outlet about their appearance at Jay-Z’s concert. “He put on a hell of a show. Friday was incredible, but Saturday? I don’t know how that roof was still on because the energy in there was just palpable. It was absolutely amazing.”
