Kweku Smoke advises Ghanaians against living beyond their means
Ghanaian rapper Kweku Smoke has advised people to live within their financial means rather than put themselves under unnecessary pressure to impress others.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session on November 5, 2026, the rapper questioned why some people spend excessively on things they could easily afford at lower prices, citing the example of people buying bottled water for as much as GH₵800.
According to him, some individuals deliberately visit expensive places and purchase items they cannot comfortably afford, simply to maintain a certain social status.
"You've bought water for GH₵800. Water that you can drink at home to your satisfaction, you're buying it for GH₵800. You go to places you know you can't afford. Nobody really cares about you as much as you think. Live your life according to what you can afford," he said.

Kweku Smoke further noted that people should not put themselves under financial pressure trying to meet societal expectations or impress others who may not even be concerned about their struggles.
He said he had given the issue considerable thought and concluded that people should prioritise their financial well-being instead of worrying about what others think.
"I've really thought about this, and I've realised that nobody cares about us, so don't put yourself under pressure," he added.
Nobody really cares as much as you think, so don't put yourself under pressure. Besides, the month has only just started. Relax, take it one day at a time, and don't rush yourself. - @kwekusmoke_
