Ghanaian musicians are seeking new international opportunities following engagements with global music industry players at the 2026 Worldwide Music Expo (WOMEX) in Spain.

The event provided an opportunity to introduce Ghanaian music projects to international booking agents, festival organisers, record labels, promoters and other professionals who could help expand the artists' presence in overseas markets.

Among the Ghanaian musicians presented to international industry players were Epixode, Abiana, Yinewin, King Nzema, King Eazie, Ayizam and Rama Black.

The presentations featured music and promotional materials showcasing different aspects of Ghana's contemporary music, with a focus on artists whose works incorporate live instrumentation, local languages, traditional influences and modern production.

The engagements also explored opportunities for international music distribution, artist development, live performances, music rights administration and cross-border cultural projects.

The gathering, held from October 21 to 25, 2026, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, brought together music professionals, festival programmers, booking agents, record labels, publishers and cultural institutions from across the world.

Ghana was represented by Apprise Music & Media, whose delegation was led by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Michael Kwabena Bamfo, and Chief Operating Officer and Head of Publishing, Grace Nyele Mensah.

The delegation also held discussions with representatives of the Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards, and The Orchard, a music distribution and artist services company owned by Sony Music Entertainment.

The discussions focused on potential opportunities for collaboration and ways to strengthen the international presence of African musicians. No formal partnerships were announced following the engagements.

The participation also highlighted the need to promote Ghana's musical heritage, including Highlife, indigenous percussion, regional folk traditions and local-language compositions, to international audiences.

Industry observers have increasingly pointed to the importance of connecting African musicians to international booking networks, festival circuits and professional management structures to help them translate growing digital audiences into sustainable live performance opportunities.

WOMEX is an annual international music gathering featuring trade exhibitions, conferences, networking activities and live music showcases.
