Ghanaian sound engineer, Hammer
Ghanaian sound engineer Hammer of ‘The Last Two’ has recalled how Sarkodie’s lyrical ability caught his attention before the rapper became one of Ghana’s biggest music exports.
Speaking on the Konnected Minds Podcast, Hammer said he was fascinated by Sarkodie’s wordplay after hearing him on Adom FM’s Kasahare, describing him as a complete talent who only needed the right guidance to develop his craft.
“Sark is the only one that I called. I was fascinated with his wordplay on Adom. I was like, whoa. He’s a full package. He just needed somebody like a coach,” he said

Hammer compared Sarkodie’s journey to that of boxing legend Mike Tyson, explaining that even exceptional talents require mentorship and preparation to reach their full potential.
He recalled calling into the radio programme to suggest bringing Sarkodie into the studio, a moment that caused excitement among the people involved.
“I called in the show, and I think I loose guard and said maybe we can do something with him in the studio. Then Duncan said, ‘Are you a sound engineer?’ I said, ‘Yeah, this is Hammer, come and see.’ It was pandemonium. It went crazy there,” he said
According to Hammer, he eventually ended the call and later contacted Sarkodie directly, leading to the rapper visiting the studio.
“Then I quietly hung up and ran away. Later I called him. And he came to the studio. The rest is history,” he said
