Uncontrolled anger has led Issaka Kusasi, a farmer, to cut off the left wrist of his brother’s wife and inflict several other wounds on her.

Issaka took offence when he was rebuked for forcing his way into his brother’s room and bolting with a lantern. For his unrestrained behaviour, Issaka who lives at Kofikrom, near Enchi in the Western Region, is on the run after mistaking his victim, Abena Kusasi, 19, for dead.

The unit committee in the area and the police are intensifying efforts to trace the whereabouts of Issaka. Narrating her ordeal to The Mirror at her bedside at the Enchi Government Hospital, Abena said Issaka is her husband’s younger brother.

She said about two weeks ago, Issaka came to their house and forced open one of their rooms and took away a lantern.

She said she confronted Issaka to return the lantern but he rather took offence and hit her with the flat side of a cutlass he was holding.

Abena said she screamed and fled from Issaka who chased her until she was rescued by a good Samaritan who advised Issaka to leave her alone.

According to Abena some days later at around 7am, she was ambushed by Issaka on her way to her husband’s farm. She said it was then that Issaka attacked her with a cutlass and slashed her indiscriminately.
