If those who chastised rapper, Kwaw Kese for his almost one-hour hold-up of the recently ended Vodafon Icons-Street Edition are seeking an apology from him for his deed, they may have to forget any such act.
Kwaw, also known as Abodam, who has courted controversy since he got into music about a decade ago has no intention of rendering any apology and seems unfazed by the unsavory comments being passed about him.
In an interview with Showbiz last Thursday, Kwaw said that even though he had heard criticisms including calls for his arrest, he couldn't be bothered because he had no regrets for the action he took at the Vodafone Icons final.
"I don't know if people think I should be remorseful for what I did because they keep bashing and criticising me for what happened at the Icons finals. I am not bothered at all; I have no regrets and will never have any for my actions.
"Since this issue came up, no one has called to ask of my side of the story. All they care about is to denigrate my image and brand because I decided to express my disgust at the outcome of a case. I have even made an allegation against Vodafone but till date, I have not heard of anyone who has called for an investigation into what I said.
"I know most people see Kwaw Kese as the black sheep in the industry so they will take the least opportunity to 'pounce' on me. Well, I want such people to know that Kwaw Kese has no regrets for what he did because what I did was right,' he stated.
He told Showbiz that he was infuriated on the night not necessarily because his brother, Buda who was one of the four finalists, didn't take home the ultimate prize.
He said he acted the way he did because an official from Vodafone allegedly demanded an amount of GH¢10,000 to facilitate his brother's victory.
"That is what happened. Somebody called me from Vodafone before the finals and wanted to negotiate with me to pay an amount of GH¢10,000 so that my brother would win the competition.
"That is where my problem is because everybody who watched the show would testify that Buda is talented, so why do I need to pay a bribe before he wins. That is my beef and I want people to call for an investigation into that," he added.
Meanwhile, a statement signed by Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Brand & Corporate Communications for Vodafone Ghana, has denied Kwaw Kese's allegations, maintaining that the ultimate winner of the competition was based solely on votes.
The statement described Vodafone as "a high integrity organisation that has zero-tolerance towards bribery and corruption."
'This is non-negotiable and under no circumstance will we compromise on this by demanding money from any contestant or their families. She said Vodafone Icons results, including the eventual winner, are driven by 100 percent through fans' votes, which are sent by SMS and not public cheering.
