Just as Rastafarians are associated with reggae songs, so are kids to cartoons. I don’t know why but it has always being a ‘children’s’ thing.

But mind you some of the old guys love it more than anything else. I remember my dad, those days will buy the (bug bunny) cartoon series and watch in his room because he dint have time or missed it when being shown on TV.

But not too many adults take delight in watching cartoons in this part of our country. Only few compared to those in the Western world.

Personally I love cartoons. I think sometimes they make a whole lot of sense than some of the “real” movies I have watched.

My point is I have never seen a cartoon series staged before until Saturday at the national theater Accra where the Tema International School as part of their 10th anniversary, staged the “Lion King”.

The idea was to help raise 30,000 US dollars for the purchase of a CT-Scanner for the Children’s Ward of the Tema General Hospital, through tickets sale. Anyway, tickets for the drama sold out and the target was achieved with enough money raised to buy the Scanner.

For cartoon lovers it was an exciting moment for both old and young as they experienced a live stage performance of the popular Disney cartoon series “the lion king”.

Some of the characters and organizers told JoyNews they can’t help but to be grateful for the turnout of events and support they received from the general public.

Meanwhile the Tema international school and all their associates have advised school children to take up their education and talents seriously.
