Accra, July 18, GNA - A 35 year-old trader on Friday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court on Friday for hitting her daughter's eyes with a ladle after subjecting her to severe beatings. Vida Addo pleaded guilty to intentionally causing unlawful harm. The court chaired by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah remanded her for sentencing on July 24. The victim cannot see with her left eye. The facts as presented by Police Inspector Emmanuel Boison were that the 11-year-old girl's parents lived at La in Accra until a misunderstanding arose between the couple and their marriage broke up about 12 years ago. Vida left the victim with her father after the divorce and the man sent the girl to her grandmother. Sometime last year, her grandmother wanted to punish her for an offence she had committed but she ran to her mother. The victim lived with Vida until November last year when she misbehaved. Vida subjected the victim to severe beatings and hit her with a ladle and asked her to go and stay with her father.
