Queen Haizel, freshest Gothic Classic and Afrobeats Ghanaian songstress has stated that, none of Ghana’s finest female artistes comes close to her in terms of voice, looks and style.

“I have tried countless times to spot even a single female artiste here in Ghana who matches up to me, but I’ve seen none so far. I’d say this a thousand times and over; my voice is distinct. I’m proud to be a plus size and my style is unique. I’m in no competition with any of my fellow ladies and I respect every musician, but they should not be threatened by my works,” Queen Haizel reiterated to Flex newspaper.

The Gothic singer further mentioned that females in general, have a natural problem in cohabiting with each other and so the tension between her colleague female musicians is nothing extraordinary.

However, she believes it is about time artistes appreciate each other’s strengths, and tolerate each other’s weakness, because the betterment of the music industry lies in unity amongst its artistes.

“Most of these female musicians want to look like models. Plus sizes like me are therefore sidelined, but I’m here to curb this discrimination. God made us all talented, regardless of our stature. My role models are Adel and Asa, but I have plans of featuring Ghanaian female musicians on my forthcoming songs for unity sake,” she added.

According to Miss Haizel, she is versatile and sees herself as a queen in everything she does. Gothic music, she said, is kind of scary, but she ventured into it in order to introduce something different to Ghanaians who are stuck on same genres for decades.

“I can do every kind of genre, but I see my strength in Gothic and Afrobeats. Ghanaians are used to a particular trend of music so I’m calling their attention to Gothic music for variety. Gothic music is slow, classical and soul touching. It’s scary, but I’ve added a creative African touch to mine and people will love it. It’s difficult, but I’m working hard to create a market for it,” Queen stated.

Real name Mercedes Haizel Cobbinah, the songbird has been in the music industry for about two (2) years and churned out songs like Rudebwoy, Black Woman, Kumole, etc. She is currently under the belt of Music Mate Records and is out with a new breathtaking single titled Bravo, together with a beautiful video.

Queen Haizel is poised to be the first ever female act to walk home with the ultimate VGMA Artiste Of The Year award. Get interactive with her on Facebook and Instagram @Queen Haizel GH.
